Fumes evacuate dress rehearsal

Shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, a dress rehearsal for "Waiting for Godot" at the University Theatre was interrupted when students began to feel sick and nauseated from strong fumes. The fumes were reported, the building was evacuated and the IU Police Department, Bloomington Fire Department and Bloomington Ambulance Service responded, IUPD Sgt. David Rhodes said.\nNo one was taken to the hospital or treated, Rhodes said. After they left the Theatre and got some fresh air, they were fine, he said.\nThe Bloomington Fire Department determined the fumes were likely caused by concrete sealer being used for the new Neal-Marshall Theatre Center next door. The building's ventilation system likely sucked in the fumes.\nFriday's opening night performance is expected to go on as planned.
