Roger that, 'Joy Ride' so so

I can't really complain about Leelee Sobieski's latest movie. Usually, she is annoying and bothersome. Just see "Down to Earth." Lately, these teen horror flicks keep getting worse. Think about "Valentine" or "Urban Legends 2." But in "Joy Ride," Sobieski takes a backseat role, only really appearing in the last half of the movie. \nThe plot is definitely an improvement on the latest slasher movies, basically relying on the originality of the concept. Lewis (Paul Walker) buys a car to pick up his best friend and long-time crush Venna (Sobieski) in Colorado, after bailing his brother Fuller (Steve Zahn) out of jail. Venna just broke up with her boyfriend and Lewis decides to try and seize the day. Fuller has a CB radio installed, and the two keep entertained by talking to truckers. Lewis eventually pretends to be a woman named Candy Cane and starts flirting with one particularly horny trucker named Rusty Nail. Rusty takes a fascination to Candy Cane and eventually begins stalking "her." \nRusty Nail is never seen in "Joy Ride"; he's depicted by a giant semi truck. At some points in the movie, the boys are snuck up on by Rusty Nail, leaving you to wonder how they did not hear a two-ton truck creep up behind them. But the truck brings fear to the movie, and at times creates tense, somewhat scary situations. Much of the fear builds from not knowing which semi is Rusty Nail. At any given time on a highway, you could be surrounded by semis. \nEverything about this movie is okay. Nothing is really bad, but nothing is really good. Sobieski's acting is better than usual, and Walker turns out a good performance in his first big lead role. In time Walker could be a teen-crap movie star similar to Freddie Prinze Jr. Zahn succeeds in providing comic relief for the movie. \n"Joy Ride" is definitely not a thrilling roller coaster, but takes you for a decent ride.
