An IU law professor has been bestowed with the highest honor given by the French government, a recognition reserved for France's most distinguished citizens.\nElisabeth Zoller, who teaches summer classes in comparative law at the IU School of Law, has been named to the French Legion of Honor.\nZoller is a law professor and director of the Center for American Law at the University of Paris II. A scholar of international and comparative constitutional law, she has written a number of books, among them a landmark work which translates into French and briefly describes the historical context and significance of the most important cases decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. The book is the first to make these cases accessible to French students and scholars in their native language, and it earned her a major prize, la medaille du prix Maurice Travers.\nIn 1997, Zoller served as consultant and lawyer for the United States before the International Court of Justice in the Lockerbie bombing trial.
