The IU School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation will hold its 15th Annual Library Auction today.\nAt about 11:30 a.m., people of all ages will file into the HPER Faculty Lounge to start bidding on such items as IU Basketball tickets, furniture, televisions and VCRs. Jerry Bastin, a professional auctioneer, will be presenting this year's items. In previous years, faculty members have auctioned off the items, said Mary Strow, the Head Librarian of the HPER School.\nThere is another factor that makes this auction unique. Tony Mobley, the School of HPER dean, is retiring at the end of the academic year.\nBecause it is Mobley's last auction, Show intends to honor and thank him for his support throughout the years.\nKate Quarles, one of the auction coordinators, jokes that the food entices some of the students to show up. She said the sloppy joe sandwiches are one aspect of the auction she is looking forward to.\nThe annual library auction is the major fund-raiser of the year for the HPER Library. The funds raised from the auction are used to purchase additional books, computer equipment and furniture for the HPER Library, said Ada Pennington, the head of daily operations at the HPER Library. \nAlthough fund-raising is a big part of the auction, the social aspect of the auction is Pennington's favorite. \n"Everyone participates and has a wonderful time," she said.
