Hoosiers seek to tie it together

They stand 4-12 overall and 1-7 in the Big Ten, but the women's volleyball team is far from giving up.\nAfter heartbreaking losses to Michigan and Michigan State this weekend, the Hoosiers said they are ready to add some wins to their record. Their next chance at a win is tonight against Illinois at 7 p.m.\nSenior Laurie Gardner said the team is working their hardest, but we haven't seen the best of them yet.\n"If you look back at some of our games, we definitely could have won some of those games,"\nGardner said. "I think right now there's a couple people at different points that are playing really well, but we need to find where we're all playing really well at the same time."\nIllinois is 11-5, 4-4 in the Big Ten and will play the game coming off two big wins this weekend. The Hoosiers last met up with Illinois in 2000 and won 3-2. \nCoach Katie Weismiller said the team might not have a lot of wins on its record, but it is winning in its own ways in other aspects of the game.\n"We knew going into this season that it was going to take a while for this team to mature. And I think we saw this weekend that the team is maturing," Weismiller said. "As coaches, we'd all like to be getting more wins, but we're winning in other ways. Fundamentally, we're getting better, physically, we're getting better and I think everybody's patience is running out. We're all hungry for wins. I believe this team is ready to take a turn and that's what we're really focused on right now."\nFreshman Christina Archibald said she is sure that the team isn't giving up and made it clear that they are a team that's fighting hard.\n"We're fighting and we never quit. Even when we were down a game, we never gave up, we kept on going," Archibald said. "That's a quality we have and always will. We keep on fighting and moving towards that next step."\nGardner said another thing they need to work on is their individual play and what they can do as an individual to help out the team. She said if they can overcome some individual errors on the court, anything is possible with this team.\n"I really think we're ready for this," Gardner said. "We had two tough losses this weekend, and we need to bounce back. I think it will be a great match, it's always a great match against Illinois. They're a good team and if we can come out ready to play, we can beat them."\nThe coaching staff and team said they are hoping that tonight is the night it all comes together.\n"Athletically, we're there. We have the talent," Weismiller said. "We just need to put it all together.\nOn one night, we need to put it all together and that will get us off to a winning streak"
