Conference to address service learning\nIU's Civic Literacy Project and the Indiana Department of Education will co-sponsor the Indiana Conference on Service Learning and Volunteerism March 1-2 at the Adam's Mark Airport Hotel in Indianapolis. \nThe conference will provide an exciting opportunity for those building communities through service and service-learning, said Will Morgan, executive director for the civic literacy project, in a press release.\n"It will be a time to share promising practices with each other as well as improve and increase the skills necessary for this demanding work," Morgan said. "The conference brings together K-12 students engaged in service-learning, K-12 educators and community volunteer organizations to share their experiences."\nThe conference will feature skill-building workshops, informal gatherings and resource sessions, as well as several nationally recognized speakers. Speaking at the conference will be James Kielsmeier, president and chief executive officer of the National Youth Leadership Council; Louis \nM. Nanni, executive assistant to the president of the University of Notre Dame; Joseph Smith, executive director of the Indiana Commission on Community Service and Volunteerism; and Daniel Tanoos, superintendent of schools for Vigo County in Indiana.\nFor more information, call 856-0528 or visit the Civic Literacy Project's Web site at serve.indiana.edu for a registration form.\nBusiness professor honored\nThomas B. Hustad, a marketing professor in the Kelley School of Business, has been awarded the Emerald Gold Page Award from Anbar Electronic Intelligence, a European online abstract publisher and analyst. \nHustad is being honored for his work with the Journal of Product Innovation Management, which Hustad founded and edited until January 2000. The journal provides businesses producing new products with research-based market information.\n"To be accepted onto the Emerald Reviews Accredited List is in itself a significant achievement," Hustad said in a press release. "To then emerge from rigorous review as best in class is a major accolade."\nTo be eligible for a Golden Page Award, a publication must be selected by the Accreditation board to be abstracted by Anbar. Each published article is reviewed and its performance evaluated.\nThis is the second time the Kelley School of Business and its faculty have received one of the Golden Page Awards. Business Horizons, a journal published by the school, received the award in 1999.\nHustad's award will be presented at a ceremony later this spring in England.
