I was completely taken aback today upon seeing the fantastic world of make-believe that the staff editorial (Nov. 9) painted on the topic of IUSA's proposal to dictate the starting and ending times of construction projects on campus. \nDuring the school year, a large proportion of the days have a limited amount of daylight hours, and to say that a construction crew needs to limit its schedule based on the poor sleeping habits of the students is absurd at best. The statement the staff made, "The shortening of the work day, or starting it and ending it later, should have little if any significant impact on construction schedules," is completely ignorant of the needs of the construction crews. \nIf it weren't that important, I have no doubt the workers would sleep in an hour or two, perhaps take a longer lunch break, and then cut out early to get home in time to watch a rerun of "Magnum P.I." \nUpon awakening to jackhammers at six-something-in-the-a.m. during finals week, I have been more than irritable, but I still accept that my lack in sleep is my own fault. If this issue is truly that much of problem on campus, as IUSA is correct that students should come first at this University, then perhaps construction projects should be better planned by the administration as per when in the year they are done, not when in the day.\nEric Nelson\nSophomore
