Exclusive Knight interview

Bob Knight still used the possessives "we" and "our" as he reminisced about his first 25 years as a coach at IU and the factors that contributed to his decision to stay as long as he did.\nDigger Phelps, one of his best friends, and former player Isiah Thomas were at his house today to lend their support. Both said they have never seen the coach like this before, and that Knight has been hurt emotionally by the latest decision.\nKnight talked about why he loves Bloomington and how the University hasn't changed since his first day as head coach in 1971. It's the people that change, he said.\n"This has just been an ideal place for me to live. The people have been great here," Knight said. "I hate to leave them. That to me will be by far the hardest thing to adjust to."\nRead the IDS Wednesday for more in-depth coverage of Knight and some of his closest friends.
