IU men’s soccer sophomore forward Griffin Dorsey has earned a spot on the U-20 USA National Team, according to an announcement from IU Athletics on Tuesday.
The U-20 team will travel to Bradenton, Florida to take on Venezuela and Jamaica from Sept. 7-11, which means Dorsey will miss the two upcoming matches against Virginia Commonwealth University and No. 12 Notre Dame.
Dorsey is tied for first on the team with two goals. He had the lone goal against then-No. 5 Wake Forest and scored against then-No. 22 Dartmouth.
The tournament will qualify four teams for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. Dorsey was a part of the U-20 camp this past July and the U.S Soccer Men’s YNT Summit Camp in January.
No. 4 IU will begin its stretch without Dorsey on Friday night against VCU in the final game of a three-match homestand.
