At around 10:15 p.m. Monday a student reported being assaulted at a bus stop on campus near Seventh Street and Jordan Avenue.
Students were alerted of the assault just after 11 p.m.
The female student was approached from behind, according to the IU-Bloomington Alert, and grabbed around her neck. The woman screamed and used her elbows to fight back, drawing the attention of someone passing by.
The suspected attacker fled to the west, according to the IU alert, and was described as a tall, thin white man in his early 20s wearing a dark blue hat.
IUPD is currently searching the area where the assault was reported to have occurred. The threat is no longer imminent, according to IU alerts. However, students are being advised to remain vigilant.
