Antonio Allen became the hope of his district as the star of the Ben Davis High School football team and growing up in one of the most impoverished ares of Indianapolis, but has since been charged with possession of drugs.

Former IU safety Antonio Allen pleaded guilty Thursday morning in Monroe Circuit Court to two felony charges related to his arrest in June 2015.

The former IU safety was sentenced to four years of home detention and 100 community service hours. He will serve probation following the four years of detention.

Indiana State Police found a Colt .45 handgun, 47 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of heroin and $920 in the Ben Davis standout’s off-campus apartment on 19th Street.

Following his arrest, the safety was dismissed from the Hoosiers’ football program, despite being part of the 2013 recruiting class that was expected to be one of the most talented in recent program history.

Allen led the Hoosiers with 75 tackles and recorded two interceptions in 2014, as he started all 12 games.

The judge is allowing him to enroll at Marian University and play football for the school.
