IU adds former Ohio State safety to 2016 class

IU football added its ninth commitment of the 2016 class Wednesday when safety Jayme Thompson committed to IU just a few days after visiting Bloomington. Thompson redshirted the 2013 season at Ohio State and then transfered to Iowa Western Community College.

Thompson is a 3-star recruit according to 247sports and was considered to be a 4-star caliber player coming out of high school. During the 2014 season at Iowa Western, he recorded 85 tackles and two interceptions for the Reivers.

He becomes the third defensive back commitment for IU in the 2016 class, joining Florida safety Khalil Bryant and Ohio cornerback A’Shon Riggins. Thompson is the first commitment for IU in over a month.

Five of IU’s nine commits have Ohio ties.
