IU, Ball State agree to 3-game series

Football vs. Ball State

IU has agreed to a three-game series with Ball State beginning in 2018 and going through 2020, the IU football program announced Monday afternoon.

“We are thrilled to continue this series with Ball State,” IU Athletics Director Fred Glass said. “It’s great for the fans of both programs and playing another state school had the added benefit of our financial support remaining within the state of Indiana.”

The Hoosiers and Cardinals will play at Memorial Stadium in 2018 and 2020, while Ball State is working on an agreement with Lucas Oil Stadium to play in Indianapolis in 2019.

The two teams have met seven times in program history.

IU leads the all-time series 4-3 but has lost in each of the last three meetings, including most recently a 41-39 loss in 2012.

The Hoosiers open the 2015 season against Southern Illinois on Sept. 5 at Memorial Stadium.
