Police arrest 18 underage drinkers at local restaurant Friday

Eighteen people were arrested for illegal consumption at a Bloomington restaurant Friday night.

Indiana State Excise Police officers went to Ami, 1500 E. Third St. at about 10:30 p.m. to investigate a complaint that the restaurant was selling alcohol to minors, according to a press release from ISEP.

Those arrested were in two private party rooms on the restaurant's second floor.

Ami faces preliminary charges of furnishing alcohol to minors, unlicensed employees and failing to maintain records of employee permits.

On Aug. 2, Ami was charged with the sale of alcohol to an 18-year-old woman during an alcohol-compliance check. Ami was also cited for reduced price violations, failure to display permit, unlicensed employees and failing to maintain records of employee permits.

Steve’s Trading Post, 2510 W. Third St., was also cited Friday for allowing a minor to loiter and sale of alcohol to a minor. Two of the minors were arrested for illegal consumption, while the third was arrested on multiple preliminary charges.
