Woman reports potential sexual assault

A 35-year-old female reported to the Bloomington Police Department that she might have been sexually assaulted, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

The female was staying with her boyfriend in a hotel on the city’s north side. The two allowed a 41-year-old male acquaintance to stay with them in the room.

The female woke up on Oct. 9 partially clothed to the male touching her leg.
She told police she was uncertain if she had been sexually assaulted.

The female located the male in the 400 block of W. Seventh St. and police responded to the scene.

The male voluntarily went to BPD for questioning and admitted to being in the hotel room with the victim. He also provided detectives with his DNA, but denied any inappropriate relations with the victim.

The female was taken to the hospital following her interview with a detective.
