Hoosiers finish strong at NCAA nationals during spring break

As some IU students were heading home or to the beach for spring break, three IU track and field athletes were kicking off their spring breaks with a trip to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA indoor championships. Jumpers, junior Kyle Jenkins and senior Kiwan Lawson competed for the men, while freshman pole vaulter Vera Neuenswander competed on the women’s side.

Wells library west tower expands hours

After countless nights of being kicked out of the library’s upper floors at 2 a.m. and having to find somewhere else to go, IU students can stop worrying about having a place to study late into the night. Starting today, the second through fifth floors of the Herman B Wells Library’s west tower will experiment with remaining open 24 hours a day, Sunday through Thursday, until the end of the semester.

Johnson grabs win with late pass on Stewart

HAMPTON, Ga. – Jimmie Johnson already has his eye on the big prize. The reigning NASCAR Nextel Cup champion passed Tony Stewart three laps from the end Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway and went on to win his second straight race. “We’re thinking championship already,” said Johnson, only four races into the 36-race season. “That’s really the mode anymore. You have to think about points and being in the top 12 all the time.” Johnson had the car to beat Sunday, leading 132 of the first 238 laps. But the only laps he led the rest of the way in the 325-lap event on Atlanta’s 1.5-mile oval were the last three.

White Sox trounce Wells and Padres

PEORIA, Ariz. – Padres manager Bud Black called it “arena baseball.” The Chicago White Sox roughed up David Wells in his third start of spring training and beat San Diego 14-7 on Sunday in a game that featured 34 hits.

There’s always a lot of talk in stylish circles in academia about sexual rights. These conversations generally center around individuals having a right to choose their sexual partners, the right to sexual autonomy and freedom from fear and abuse. Essentially, we as a generation and social group are very fluent in the language of “No.” No means no and that’s incredibly important; I don’t intend to diminish the vital importance of that sexual right. However, such emphasis on “No” leaves me wondering, what about “Yes”?
