On Feb. 20, Sen. Richard Lugar was notified that the Federal Aviation Administration granted more than $1 million to Indiana airports to keep them fully functional and operational.

An upcoming book called “Image Bite Politics: News and the Visual Framing of Elections,” by IU Telecommunications professors Maria Elizabeth Grabe and Erik Bucy, argues that when it comes to visual images shown by the three major news networks, election coverage favors conservative candidates.  



Hoosiers beat Michigan by 6

The IU women's basketball team closed out the regular season today with a 67-61 victory over Michigan at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers hope the win will help secure a spot in this year's NCAA Tournament. Check the IDS Above the Rim blog for more information about the game

Hoosiers place 5th at Big Ten Championships

Upon completion of the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette Saturday, No. 7 IU men’s swimming and diving team placed fifth with 449.5 points, 379.5 behind champion No. 4 Michigan. No. 9 Ohio State was second, followed by Minnesota and No. 14 Purdue.

IU falls to Penn State 61-58 in final seconds

The Hoosiers held the lead late against Penn State, but IU didn’t have enough to pull off the upset, losing 61-58. Matt Roth's game-tying three with seconds to play fell just short

With one night remaining in the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, the IU men’s swimming and diving team eyes a best-case-scenario second place finish, but in order to do so, has its work cut out for it.

Obama to rescind Bush abortion rule

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration is moving to rescind a federal rule that reinforced protections for medical providers who refuse to perform abortions or other procedures on moral grounds, an official said Friday.

Economy shrinks at fastest pace in 26 years

WASHINGTON — The economy contracted at a staggering 6.2 percent pace at the end of 2008, the worst showing in a quarter-century, as consumers and businesses ratcheted back spending, plunging the country deeper into recession.
