Bennett seeks support at luncheon

Once again, new women's basketball coach Kathi Bennett was talking defense. The coach, who prides herself on her team's defensive skills, discussed her philosophy with a packed audience in the Hoosier Room underneath Memorial Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

Hoosiers hope to upset No. 9 Penn State tonight

The volleyball team is due for a win. They face off tonight against No. 9 Penn State, but the odds don't seem to be on their side. The odds, in fact, sit with the defending national champion and two-time Big Ten defending champion Nittany Lions.

Freshman swimmer could be 'one of the best,' coach says

Freshman Sarah Fiden is everything the women's swimming team could want in a squad member. Her coach and teammates agree Fiden's warm heart and hard work combine to make a competitive swimmer. Coach Dorsey Tierney said she believes that if Fiden continues to train extensively, she will have a bright future.

Ready for redemption

Last season ended with a thud for the men's basketball team. Former coach Bob Knight was accused of choking Neil Reed, just in time for the first-round NCAA tournament game against Pepperdine in Buffalo, N.Y. Junior Kirk Haston was forced to watch his team lose 77-57 from the bench because he tore the lateral meniscus in his right knee during a collision early in the game.

Men's soccer team makes tourney -- barely

The men's soccer team usually watches the NCAA tournament draw to see what seed it will get. Or who it will be host to in the first round. Monday, the Hoosiers, NCAA champions the past two seasons, tuned in to the draw to see if they made the tournament at all. They did.
