BOSTON -- The 24-second clock was winding down as Paul Pierce dribbled calmly in place, talking trash to defender Al Harrington.
If there is one play, one pitch, that IU's 2003 softball season will be remembered by it will be Michigan State junior Jessica Beech's seventh inning pitch that sophomore Ashley Griffiths smashed over the right center fence to end the game and end IU's two-year, 33-game Big Ten losing streak.

As graduation day nears, seniors have begun thinking about the future outside of Bloomington. For the underclassmen who still have requirements to fill and credits to earn, college life is still a main priority. But for Little 500 riders, the future of a team hinges on graduating seniors. Losing just one rider could hurt a team's chance to turn out a successful performance the next year. After Sigma Alpha Epsilon lost its IU charter in 2002, the team of riders registered as an independent team, The Corleones.
With no quarterback hits, no kickoff or punt returns and players routinely switching sides, Friday night's spring football game may not have been an exact showcase of what the IU football team expects next season.

Team Gafombi took the men's Little 500 race title with a strong finish Saturday afternoon. The squad, who placed second in series event scoring, won its first ever race title. After finishing second a year ago, Gafombi qualified in the fourth position for the race. Senior rider John Grant won ITTs and Miss-N-Out in the Little 500 series events leading up to the race. Team Major Taylor, who qualified second, finished the race in second place, followed by Acacia, Dodds House and last year's winners, Corleones.

The race came down to the final lap, where Kappa Alpha Theta, who started out of the sixth position, sprinted for the win. Sophomore rider Nicole Vincent started the 100th and final lap just over a bike length behind the leading Roadrunners rider. But, midway through the lap, Vincent began a closing sprint, overtaking first place and winning by a large margin. The Roadrunners came in second, followed by Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Teter. Full Results
