Davis addresses rumors surrounding uncertain future

No one was surprised when the topic came up. After Wednesday night's 67-60 loss to Vanderbilt in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament, IU coach Mike Davis addressed the media with a glum look on his face, knowing his Hoosiers won't have a chance to play in Madison Square Garden for the NIT title -- what could have been a reviving end to a rollercoaster season. But it was on question No. 4 that the flood gates opened.

Vanderbilt ends IU's season

Somewhere, the NCAA Selection Committee was sitting Wednesday night shaking their head, knowing they made the right decision. All debate, all questions, all what-ifs were laid to rest as the Hoosiers proved why they weren't pretty enough to be in the round of 65 with a 67-60 loss to Vanderbilt at home in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

No NCAA berth for IU

The Hoosiers will have to put away their dancing shoes for another year. The IU men's basketball team failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row Sunday as its name wasn't called by the NCAA's Selection Committee. Instead, the Hoosiers are relegated to playing Vanderbilt Wednesday in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. at Assembly Hall and will be aired on ESPN2.

Iowa's selection raises questions

Selection Sunday came and went, and the IU basketball squad was among the teams waiting, watching and praying its name would be revealed as a NCAA Tournament team. However, with a 15-13 record, the Hoosiers' hopes for an at- large bid went by the wayside with Friday's embarrassing display against Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament.

Squad to beat the heat in the pool

'Small but mighty' squad travels to Purdue's pool for NCAA Championships

Of the 22 women on the roster, five swimmers and four divers will carry this year's team motto of "small but mighty" to the NCAA Championships in West Lafayette. Trying to find the spirit in St. Louis

Wilson leads fleet of 5 Hoosiers to NCAAs

Typically, an NCAA title is won by a team with a large number of athletes entered in various events, including relays. Every once in awhile, a team comes along with the potential to win on the strength of just a few athletes. This year, the Hoosiers are that team. With just five athletes entered, IU is one of four teams with a chance to take this year's team title.

Team grabs its blades, ready for Clemson opener

IU crew was cheerfully afloat when the fall season ended. A win against Notre Dame, Michigan and Northwestern while sharing a bronze medal with Purdue in October was IU's best-ever performance. The Hoosiers, still buoyant and full of muscular enthusiasm, are raring to go this spring. They said they know they are faster, stronger and smarter.

10-run lead not enough to ensure IU win

At the end of the fifth inning, the Hoosiers had a 10-run lead over the Butler Bulldogs. Three innings and 11 unanswered runs later, IU found itself down by one to its instate rival. That is how the score remained as the Bulldogs, with a nine-run sixth inning, came back and defeated IU Thursday at Sembower Field.

Hoosiers optimistic for tournament debut

Despite a slow start to the spring campaign, the Hoosiers will head west to Las Vegas to make their University of Nevada-Las Vegas Spring Invitational debut with not only their golf clubs, but also a positive attitude and optimistic outlook for the tournament.
