Is the "mission accomplished" yet?

Last week was the fifth anniversary of the United States’ invasion of Iraq. The war has turned out to be the single most divisive issue in the nation today, as well as the frontrunner for “thing President George W. Bush will be most remembered for.”

On Monday, Sen. Hillary Clinton laid out a plan in Philadelphia to slow mounting foreclosures. She called for greater lender transparency and for $30 billion in federal assistance for individual homeowners. She clearly hopes to woo enough Pennsylvanians to keep her bid for the Democratic nomination alive.

Judging a book by its cover

On March 21, the Indiana Daily Student ran an article about a student and janitor at IUPUI accused of harassing his black co-workers by reading an anti-Ku Klux Klan book called “Notre Dame vs. the Klan: How the Fighting Irish Defeated the Ku Klux Klan” in front of them. The book features two burning crosses on its cover. The man, Keith J. Sampson, claims he didn’t do anything besides read the book and that he is a very racially tolerant person who was just trying to learn what the book had to say.

Prominent U.S. foreign policy scholar to speak about Iraq War

The IU Department of History is hosting Andrew J. Bacevich, professor of international relations at Boston University, at 8 p.m. today in the Indiana Memorial Union’s Georgian Room. Bacevich will be speaking about U.S. foreign policy after the Iraq War. Bacevich is part of the annual McNutt lecture series hosted by IU’s history department.

IU-EMS to host mock drunk-driving scenario

Charity trades old equipment for new phone cards

Between dropping them in the toilet, leaving them on the bus or accidentally stepping on them, college students can be hard on their cell phones. Now, they can donate old cells and chargers to Cell Phones for Soldiers, which trades them in for 60-minute phone cards that are given to families and friends of soldiers so they can call their loved ones stationed overseas.
