This past week, our country finally got news that was bound to come sometime: a proposal to drastically shrink the size of the federal government and completely retool health entitlement programs, most notably Medicare.

The IU softball team will visit conference rival Penn State University this weekend for a brief two-game series. IU will look to improve on its .500 (2-2) conference record after winning its last Big Ten game, an upset against third-ranked Michigan.

Home Invitational allows IU chance to rebound

After the team’s seventh-place finish at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, its worst tournament finish since mid-September, the IU men’s golf team will prepare to host its only tournament of the year, the adidas Hoosier Invitational, at the IU Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday against a 15-team field.

Between Little 500 apparel and pricey concert tickets, the concept of free might be difficult for students to grasp. However, IU’s Business Careers in Entertainment Club has paired with Union Board to present the third annual Addicted to Music concert free of charge.

Symposium discusses gay marriage

Stuffing into the Moot Court Room of the Maurer School of Law on Thursday, students and community members filled the crowded room for a symposium titled “Same-Sex Marriage and the Future of DOMA: Law, Politics, Federalism, and Families.” The event discussed lawsuits challenging the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
