Election could impact graduate student debt

Graduate students at IU have experienced higher tuition costs and face greater debt when leaving the University, as state funds for higher education have withered away over the past decade. With the upcoming Nov. 7 elections, many are questioning how politics and government spending can affect graduate students.

Hurricane weakens to tropical storm off Mexico

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico -- Hurricane Paul weakened to a tropical storm Tuesday as it headed toward the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, whipping up high surf that left one person dead and another missing in the resort region.

Club offers high-level competition

Hitting a plastic ball with holes in it might seem boring. But then again, most people haven't played with the Whiffle Ball Club. While it might not compete with schools across the Midwest like other club sports, that doesn't mean the whiffle ball team lacks the intensity of other sports, said Justin Ross, the club's vice president.

First wins of the season costly to Hoosier team

The IU hockey team remains unbeaten after winning both games this weekend against Robert Morris University. The Hoosiers (2-0-2) beat Robert Morris (1-4-0) Friday and Saturday at the Frank Southern Ice Arena in Bloomington, notching their first wins of the season. IU forward Dan Karlander kicked off the game with an early goal. From that point on, the Hoosiers never looked back. Though the team won the game 4-2, they suffered other losses on the ice.

Roussell wins Hoosier Invitational championship over weekend

Late second half goals lead Hoosiers to comeback win

INDIANAPOLIS -- Trailing by one goal with five minutes remaining, the IU men's soccer team scored three goals before the end of regulation to defeat in-state rival Butler 4-2. After struggling to convert offensive opportunities into goals for the first 85 minutes, goals from senior midfielder Josh Tudela, freshman forward Darren Yeagle and freshman midfielder Eric Alexander stunned the Bulldog fans celebrating senior day for Butler.

Bearded lady, sex toys topics of lectures today

A bearded lady and sex toys will be the topics of two gender studies' lectures today in an effort to bring awareness to the IU Department of Gender Studies. Gender studies professor Lynn Comella will be presenting a seminar called "Sex Talk, Sex Toys and Sexual Health," as the first installment of the Sexual Health Research Working Group Sexual Health Seminar, series according to an IU press release.

Indiana Supreme Court will not hear case on Knight firing

Arrests lead to removal of 4 IU swim team members

Four members of the IU swimming and diving team were removed from the squad after being arrested over the weekend, said Pete Rhoda, the director of Athletic Media Relations. Rhoda would not comment further on the issue.

Baron Hill, former Senator Bayh speak to IU College Democrats

Democratic candidate for Indiana's 9th District, Baron Hill, spoke to members of the Indiana Public Interest Research Group and the IU College Democrats about environmental issues Tuesday night. Hill reiterated his position on energy independence, saying that if elected to the House, he will work to invest money into ethanol and biodiesel, as well as offer tax incentives for buyers and sellers of hybrid cars.

Iraqi leaders will create timeline to reduce violence
