TV makes me happy, not sad
People who watch lots of hours of TV are lazy slugs. People who watch too much TV don’t educate themselves enough and fail to relate with other people.

On a morning like any other, Jewish children in the valley of Wadi Ara in Israel wake up, prepare for the day and travel to school. Unlike many of their peers, however, these students travel into a Muslim town. On the outskirts of Kfar Kara, atop a small hill, sits their elementary school, Bridge Over the Wadi. There they share the classroom with Muslim students.
It’s a fact of life that supervisors sometimes make their employees perform menial, pointless tasks. Whether it’s brewing another pot of coffee or putting cover sheets on reports, employees always like to say that these things waste their time. At the University of California at Irvine, a biology professor has stretched this excuse too far. Alexander McPherson, one of the leading scientists in protein research, stands to lose his tenure if he does not agree to attend sexual harassment prevention training, which is mandated by law for all public and private businesses with 50 or more employees. McPherson believes that the training session is a waste of his time and that it casts suspicion on his character. We think McPherson’s logic is backward. By not attending the sessions, he only makes himself appear to be more of a creeper, and by taking such a public stance against something so simple and straightforward, he is wasting everyone’s time.
Last week, on a rather cold and bleary Saturday, around 250 IU students and community members gathered at the downtown square to protest the passage of Proposition 8, a California initiative that redefines marriage as between a woman and man. I was one of them.
President-elect Barack Obama said throughout his campaign that he plans to withdraw our troops from Iraq and re-deploy some of them to the failing state of Afghanistan. Iraq will be left to handle itself.
BEIJING – Every time I go to the convenience store on campus, I pass a treasure trove of bootleg DVDs. They sit in stacks on a cart, in irregular packaging with poorly translated titles, but the price you can’t beat – about $1.10 per disc.

Although the writer’s strike and NBC’s idiocy shortened season seven of “Scrubs,” the show still delivered laughs and legitimate character arcs where season six didn’t.
“Hellboy II” may not be the most famous comic book ever, but when it comes to on-screen performance, it has surpassed almost every single one of its comic book peers.
When "JFK" was first released it was a disappointing waste of talent. Today it feels much the same.
The recommendation to rename the Ora L. Wildermuth Intramural Center is being delayed for now.
I could fill page after page with what’s groundbreaking, thrilling and fantastic about HBO’s legendary series “The Sopranos,” but I’ll just say it’s the best series ever to grace the television medium. The momentous Greek tragedy that is Tony Soprano’s dual life as family man and made man never once sagged during its eight years.
Wes Jakacki discusses what he's been thankful for in 2008.
Three WEEKEND reviewers tackle the latest in music.
It is a pity that Chapman could not return the greatness of “Fast Car,” but fans of her work will still enjoy this addition to their collection.
Fun. That’s probably the best word to describe Bloomington artist Totally Michael’s self-titled debut album.
One very impressive thing about this album is that The Postmarks are able to retain their signature sound while still singing the songs of other artists.
