Hoosiers blow out Cincinnati 16-4 in away game

·

After his team’s 3-2 win against Minnesota last Saturday, junior catcher Josh Phegley said his biggest concern was a lack of early scoring in games. His teammates responded against Cincinnati on Wednesday night, as the Hoosiers scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 16-4 victory. The win was IU’s third in a row and brings their season record to 10-15.

Future Hoosier forward shows versatility

·

Christian Watford looks like a basketball player. He’s 6-foot-8, weighs 215 pounds and some say he resembles a young Tracy McGrady. But looks alone didn’t net him a scholarship to play at IU, nor did they help the high school senior average 26 points, 15 rebounds and five assists per game this year for Shades Valley High School, located in a suburb of Birmingham, Ala.

New shows looking for success during debut month

·

Although current shows are heading into the final stretch, April will also see the debut of new programs looking to make a splash in a very short time. And unlike most years, there are newbies this season that actually have a shot. Therefore, I’m mixing things up a bit this week – no TiVo’ing, no rant. Just a mini spring preview with a quality scale to help you decide if you want to watch.

The 7 deadly sings of coffeeshop etiquette

·

I am a total coffee snob. I admit it. I’ve worked at Angles Café and Gift Shop in the IU Art Museum for almost four years now, and it’s turned me into one of those people. I have a ban on being spoken to until my first cup of free trade organic coffee has been consumed. I don’t drink anything at Starbucks that hasn’t been drowned in sugar and syrup, lest I taste the burning fires of their over-roasted beans. I love my regulars at Angles – they are the polite, friendly, cheerful people that every slinger of joe wishes they could interact with. However, there are a few things every snooty barista will silently judge you for.

A comeback of sorts

·

After achieving mainstream success with 2002’s “Sticks and Stones” and 2004’s “Catalyst” and driving the pop-punk revolution, New Found Glory created a more pop-oriented sound for 2006’s “Coming Home,” which angered longtime fans but enchanted critics with its maturity.

A beautiful bromance

·

In the midst of phrases like “bromance” and homosexual implications for close guy friends, films like “Superbad,” “Pineapple Express,” “Role Models” and even “Knocked Up” have showed us what it means to have a best friend today. And the newest attempt, “I Love You, Man,” shines the spotlight on the platonic male relationship in a completely real and honest way.

The whitest boy alive

·

Dropping out of IU might have been the best thing that ever happened to Christian Lander. Shortly after the 30-year-old Canadian native left the Communication and Culture Ph.D. program, he created a blog that became a cult sensation – Stuff White People Like.

One for the Cutters

·

Hold Steady, which will play alongside The War on Drugs at Jake’s Nightclub, is most famous for its Springsteen-esque, bar-rock style and story-telling lyrics.Lyrical characters such as Charlemagne, Gideon and Holly will also come along for the ride, as lead singer Craig Finn twists the three characters’ stories into plot-filled lyrics.
