Chefs cook food from head to tail at Hog Heaven event

Participants at the first “Hog Heaven: A celebration of local pork from snout to tail” got more than just a smorgasbord of different type of pork-centered dishes. Attendees to the event, which was part of the weekend-long conference Bloomington Eats Green, enjoyed a casual atmosphere, sampling the various pork dishes as well as listening to a bluegrass band.

Saudi teen to be beaten, imprisoned after having phone at school

A teenage girl has been sentenced to a 90-lash flogging and two months in prison as punishment for assaulting a teacher, a Saudi judge said in an interview published Sunday. Amnesty International said the assault happened after the girl was caught with a camera phone at school.

USCG crews contain crude oil spill

The Coast Guard worked Sunday to contain and clean a crude oil spill in a Texas port. It was contained in a 2-mile area and was not believed to have hurt local wildlife, the Coast Guard said.

After the ethical scandal surrounding the 2008 IUSA elections, when the winning ticket was disqualified for six election code violations, the group’s congress is considering several changes to improve the current code.

Team preps for first road match

Despite missing two players, the IU women’s tennis team will play its first road matches of the spring season Saturday. The team will travel to Miami University (Ohio) for a 9:30 a.m. match, then relocate to Ball State for a 6 p.m. contest.
