Two upper-level associates of former Athletic Director Michael McNeely have left the department weeks following McNeely's abrupt resignation. Chief Financial Officer Jason Lewis and Assistant Athletics Director of Personnel and Administration Lauren Rochet, among McNeely's first hires as AD, are out of their Assembly Hall offices as the department continues to restructure since McNeely's departure. Neither was forced out, IU officials said.

Adult filmmakers first taped at WIUS

Before taping at Teter Quad, the adult film crew that visited IU in October performed sex acts in a studio at the campus radio station. WIUS, IU's student radio station, played host to what would become a preview of the "Invasion" that Shane Enterprises had in store for IU. The entire cast and crew of "Campus Invasion" stopped by the WIUS studios to spice up the morning radio show with a sexual demonstration.

Supreme Court hears senator's complaint

The IU Student Association Supreme Court heard a complaint from IUSA Senator Dietrich Willke Wednesday night concerning the constitutionality of some senators and congressmen representing the wrong constituencies.

Longhorns end Hoosiers' season 3-2

After just making the NCAA tournament as the eighth team invited from the Big Ten, the Hoosiers just missed moving onto the second round, as the Texas Longhorns eliminated IU 3-2 in the first round in Tucson, Ariz. Thursday night.

Wrestling coach brings experience, teaches toughness

IU wrestling coach Duane Goldman leads by example. In practice, he prefers to use a hands-on approach when teaching his athletes the sport. But last season Goldman was reduced to almost a spectator when he broke his pelvis in three places in a car accident at the beginning of the season.

Wrestlers ready for Northern Iowa

After two disappointing losses last weekend in New Jersey, the IU wrestling team is looking to recover this Saturday at the Northern Iowa Open. This will be IU's second open tournament of the season. IU's first open tournament of the year, the Missouri Open, had over 500 wrestlers and nearly 25 schools participated. The 52nd annual UNI Open will be only slightly smaller with 300 wrestlers spanning Divisions I, II and III competing. Among them will be the University of Illinois. The Hoosiers encountered the Fighting Illini at the Missouri Open where the team seemed unstoppable, taking four of 10 weight class titles.

Team looks to continue hot streak

If history repeats itself, IU is in for a tough battle this weekend. IU (8-5-0, 2-2-0) will take a four-game win streak into an arena where they've never won. IU heads to Oxford, Ohio Friday night to take on Miami University. Saturday, Miami will come to Bloomington to complete the series.

Hoosiers take on Hoyas at home

Before the women's basketball season started, coach Kathi Bennett was worried about the inexperience and youth of her team. It turns out that freshmen Angela Hawkins, April Williams, Cyndi Valentin, Kali Kullberg and Brigett Branson have been assets to the Hoosiers' scoring and defense. Their toughness and quickness on the court will be useful in Saturday's match-up against undefeated Georgetown.

The No. 10 IU men's basketball team came close to putting a mark on the dreaded loss side Tuesday night in the victory over No. 9 Maryland. But the Hoosiers pulled it out in the 80-74 overtime victory, remaining undefeated at 5-0. They hope to add to the left side once again 1 p.m. Saturday when they face University of Illinois-Chicago at Assembly Hall.

Several Muslim groups in Nigeria condemned the Miss World beauty pageant that was originally scheduled to be held tomorrow in the country's capital city Abuja. They think the contest promotes promiscuity and indecency. Isioma Daniel, a Nigerian columnist who resigned and left the country when a Nigerian Muslim state called for her death, thought the groups opposing the beauty pageant were overreacting.

Second boat movie for Cameron

LOS ANGELES — The story of the ill-fated German warship Bismarck took hold of filmmaker James Cameron as a youngster, when he watched the 1960 British movie "Sink the Bismarck." He saw it again recently and was unimpressed. "Not that great a film. The special effects were terrible," said Cameron, who proved in "Titanic" and "The Abyss" that he knows a thing or two about the subject.

Sounds from Old Spain

When most people think of Spanish music, the first things that pop into their minds are guitars and castanets. There is a genre however that takes Spanish music out of the saloons and puts it into the cathedrals. It is the music of the Spanish Renaissance. The odd thing about it is that although the music was written by Spaniards for a Spanish audience, not much is distinctly Spanish about it. The instruments are not uniquely Spanish; the words are in Latin and the composers studied in Italy. But its lack of Spanish flavor also made a unique and unexpected impression of the music by flying in the face of common assumptions about Spanish music. It still was an enjoyable experience.
