Around the world, fuel and food prices are on the rise. These increased prices are causing a lot of problems for people in West African countries, such as the  nation of Ghana.

Wheldon wins his second Indianapolis 500

In the 100 years of the Indianapolis 500, few endings have provided as much drama as this year’s race as rookie JR Hildebrand crashed in the final turn of the final lap of the 500 mile race—ultimately yielding Dan Wheldon this year’s champion.

The centennial Indianapolis 500 reminded some fans of the Daytona 500 when Trevor Bayne claimed victory in his second career NASCAR start. One corner stood in the way of rookie JR Hildebrand accomplishing a similar feat. Though in his case, the track won in incomprehensibly tragic fashion.

Memorial Day closings around Bloomington

All non-emergency city offices will be closed in recognition of Memorial Day. City offices will resume normal business hours Tuesday, May 31.

Dan Wheldon, 2005 Indianapolis 500 winner, took first place in during this year's race when JR Hildebrand's car crashed into the SAFER Barrier when it drifted up the track and left Turn 4.

Pole vaulters Vera Neuenswander and Kelsie Ahbe each qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships during June 8-11 in Des Moines, Iowa, while sprinter Devin Pipkin advanced to the quarterfinal of the men's 100-meter dash with a fourth-place finish in his heat.
