COLUMN: Global fervor focused in wrong direction

The foundations of the global political landscape are shifting. A growing disdain for establishment politics and socioeconomic strife has given way to a global wave of populist sentiment that has opened the door to the rise of Trump, Britain’s June 24 vote to leave the European Union and a general air of an “us” versus “them” struggle between the everyman and wealthy elites.


EDITORIAL: BLM back in public spotlight

The murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of on-duty police officers last week catapulted the conversation on #BlackLivesMatter into the national spotlight, yet again.









Sophomore Blake Pieroni leads IU in a cheer before the start of the Big Ten Championship meet Saturday evening at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Pieroni went on to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 42.27, followed closely by junior Anza Tavcar and sophomore Ali Khalafalla who both placed second and third, respectfully.

Blake Pieroni named to Team USA

It took forty years for the Hoosiers to have a swimmer be named to Team USA. That all changed within the span of a few days as three Hoosiers earned spots on Team USA after their performances at the Olympics Trials in Omaha, Neb.

John Sejdinaj named vice president and chief financial officer at Indiana University

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie has selected John A. Sejdinaj vice president and chief financial officer of the university. Sejdinaj’s appointment is subject to formal approval by the IU Board of Trustees at their meeting in August. Sejdinaj is currently vice president for finance at the University of Notre Dame, where he has established effectiveness as a leader in higher education and finance.
