Bloomington’s summer benefits

This being my first real summer in Bloomington, I was shocked to find out the number of my friends that were actually staying here. It seems like the number of people who went back home have actually made this place a lot nicer to get around.

Gama brothers define home with passing of HEA 1402

Erick and Omar Gama moved from Mexico to Indianapolis when they were 11. They didn’t know the language, they didn’t have documentation and they were often made fun of at school because of their lack of English skills. The two brothers aren’t sure how they passed that year of fifth grade but by the eighth grade, they were moved out of the English as a second language program and were accepted into the Magnet program, which is for advanced students in Indianapolis Public Schools.

Baseball slips before finale at Illinois

Senior Dylan Swift provided some fun and sparked a rally in the Hoosiers' 8-4 loss to Louisville on Tuesday at Sembower Field, but coach Tracy Smith said he believes the team is mentally ready for its final regular-season series this weekend at Illinois.

Softball ready for NCAA regional play

Seven IU South Bend students requested a public hearing about the Chick-fil-A on their campus, but their complaints have been forwarded to the IU Office of Procurement Services in Bloomington because they have authority over vendors.

Applications for Citizens' Academy now available

Participants enroll in an approximately six-week course explaining how the city runs its day-to-day affairs. They are given an in-depth tour of each major Bloomington government department, including the Mayor’s office, City Council and the Utilities Department.

Theresa Ochoa walked up to a food cart during her lunch break in her red high heels and examined the workers wearing T-shirts that read “Happy Pig.” She looked at the empty grill at the corner of Indiana and Kirkwood avenues before asking, “What are you selling?”

Limbaugh puts American Politics in Limbo

For several months I’ve been recreationally following American political commentator, Rush Limbaugh. Before I move on, I would like to say this is not an attack on the beliefs of any party or person. My main concern is not what Limbaugh and other conservative talk show hosts are preaching, but rather how they are preaching it.
