IU's distinguished Professor Elinor Ostrom died of cancer at IU Health Bloomington Hospital early Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the University.

IU Junior Andy Bayer wins 1,500m NCAA title

Bayer finished the race in 3:43.82, crowning him the champion against Brigham Young University’s Miles Batty by just .01 seconds. It was Bayer's first NCAA title and the first outdoor champion from IU since 1993.

U.S. House passes bill ending tax on medical devices

The United States House of Representatives passed the Health Care Cost Reduction Act of 2012 on Thursday by a 270-146 vote. The bill, co-sponsored by Indiana Representatives Todd Young and Mike Pence, intends to repeal a 2.3-percent tax on medical devices imposed under President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Under Pennsylvania’s Act 13, drillers are required to tell any doctor who asks what chemicals they are pumping underground — but doctors are prohibited from sharing this information with anyone else. What’s more, there is no standard confidentiality agreement form, so each drilling company drafts its own terms.

Now, I’m not saying we should drop all our dearly held beliefs. I’m not saying we should acquiesce to whatever the group wants — there are very few times in history where that turned out well.

Gallery addresses workplace violence

The El Norteño restaurant in downtown Bloomington is now displaying the Bandana Project gallery, which is part of an incentive to end workplace violence and sexual harassment against female farm workers. The gallery is on display from May 22 to July 22.

Police arrest sleeping man for burglary

A Bloomington man was arrested for burglary Saturday morning after residents on the 400 block of South Grant Street returned home and found the suspect asleep on a couch in their basement with alleged plans to steal a video game controller.
