The No. 14 IU men’s basketball team showed no signs of an emotional hangover after last Thursday’s game against Illinois as the Hoosiers won its second straight road game in Columbus Sunday, defeating Ohio State 59-53.

Hoosiers top Illini after 2 overtime periods

The IU men’s basketball team squeaked out a four-point, double-overtime win against Illinois. And they have Fighting Illini forward Shaun Pruitt to thank. Pruitt missed three crucial free throws in the waning moments of IU freshman guard Eric Gordon’s return to Champaign and allowed the No. 14 Hoosiers to walk away with the 83-79 victory.  SLIDESHOW: IU vs. Illinois

IU sweeps season series against toothless Wildcats

Northwestern arrived in Bloomington without a win in Big Ten play. The Wildcats left the same way they came. The IU women’s basketball team (14-9, 7-4) overcame cold shooting early to sweep its season series with the Wildcats (4-19, 0-11), winning at home 74-58.

IU looks for victory in last meet before Big Ten Tournament

Even though they have had a three-week break, the No. 8 men’s swimming and diving team is still riding the momentum of its victory over Tennessee into this weekend. The Hoosiers will be hosting the Purdue Boilermakers in their last regular season meet on Saturday, where they hope to avenge a tough loss to their in-state rival last season. A year ago, the then-No. 11 Hoosiers lost to then-No. 18 Purdue 125-118.

After a drawn-out 4-3 victory over Kentucky last Saturday, the No. 26 IU women’s tennis team is hoping for an easier time this weekend against unranked Marquette and Morehead State. Unlike Saturday’s match, both opponents possess losing records (1-4 and 1-5, respectively), but the Hoosiers said they are not underestimating either of them.

IU runner’s change of heart leads to success

IU distance runner Wendi Robinson runs 65 miles a week. She can run a mile in less than five minutes. Her 3,000-meter time is top-10 all-time at IU. Her 5,000-meter time is the fastest in the nation this year. All of these long distance achievements come from a person who started her career as a sprinter.
