Most people dream of living the life of a star athlete – the money, the cars and the continuous moments of fan recognition.But for sophomore Charlotte Martin, the No. 2 singles player for the IU women’s tennis team, life as a student athlete is not all glamour.

Official: Pacers can't afford to run Conseco

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board official is urging the city to take over the cost of operating Conseco Fieldhouse, saying the Indiana Pacers can no longer afford it.

INDIANAPOLIS – Twenty minutes after the final whistle blew, the Hoosiers’ locker room was silent, as if jerseys and equipment were the only things inside.

Hoosiers' waiting game begins

The IU women’s basketball team was still filled with hurt and heartache 30 minutes after its Big Ten Tournament ended. The women sat lifelessly in the Conseco Fieldhouse locker room, trying to cope after they coughed up a 14-point first-half lead en route to a 64-68 loss to in-state rival Purdue.

Christina Loukas is your average, everyday girl from Chicago’s north side. But one huge difference between Loukas and anyone else on this campus is a ninth-place finish on the 3-meter springboard at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Nearly seven minutes into the first half, the IU women’s basketball team had not scored a point. Then freshman Lindsay Enterline hit a 3-pointer, which was followed by an increased effort by the Hoosiers (19-9). IU came back to beat Michigan 68-50 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday in Indianapolis.

If IU can take its newfound style of play to Wisconsin on Sunday night against the Badgers, who have played that way all season, it could make for another deliberate, methodical contest. It also might give IU its best chance at pulling off an upset.
