Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Howie Day and Nickel Creek concert, and I've decided that's the way to go. What are you talking about "that's the way to go?" I mean the whole singing thing. That's totally the way to get girls. Look at Howie Day, John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw. The girls love that kind of stuff. Matt, you can't play guitar. Do you plan on learning any time soon?

Wal-Mart's Indiana expansion plans hit another stumble TERRE HAUTE -- The City Council has, at least temporarily, blocked zoning approval for a new Wal-Mart store, the latest stumble for the retail giant's expansion plans in Indiana.

Eat slow, live well, savor life

In a country super-saturated with fast food restaurants, political science professor Christine Barbour is striking out on her own and heading up a community chapter of a national response to the fast food dominance: the 'Slow Food' movement. It's a movement emphasizing pleasurable and seasonal eating, a community connection to local growers and producers, and a generally more harmonious life. And in order to bring the Slow Food movement and its way of life to the community at whole, Barbour is helping to sponsor a block-party style event this Sunday, appropriately titled "Slow Fest."

I got a wake-up call Tuesday night, and in the most interesting of ways. I was forced to remember that appearances can be quite deceiving. There I was at home, watching Cartoon Network and writing a song when a friend sent me an instant message. "You watching Cartoon Network?" she asked.

Court throws Nader off Pennsylvania ballot

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A state court knocked Ralph Nader off Pennsylvania's presidential ballot Wednesday, citing thousands of fraudulent signatures including "Mickey Mouse" and "Fred Flintstone."

A martyr to the cause

New York Times reporter Judith Miller probably never purposefully set out to become a First Amendment martyr and a credit to the field of journalism, but the government is making it a lot easier for her. Thursday, a federal judge declared Miller in civil contempt of court for her refusal to testify before a grand jury as part of the Justice Department's investigation into who leaked CIA operative Valerie Plame's name to syndicated columnist Robert Novak in 2003.

Fatboy Slim not worth the 'weight'

Boneham gives back

It's no surprise that Indianapolis' native Rupert Boneham, the son of an IU geology professor and a high school biology and chemistry teacher, often took nature-oriented family vacations.
