IU to keep current policies, accepting illegal immigrants

The former Attorney General of Virginia, Jerry W. Kilgore, wants Virginia’s General Assembly to pass a law barring illegal aliens or undocumented students from attending public colleges in the state and from receiving state financial aid.

IU hosts first major film conference

The IU Department of Communication and Culture will be hosting a major film conference this weekend. The inaugural Film Indiana conference will showcase IU’s film archives and cinema-related collections.

Enrollment is second largest

Aside from being deemed the smartest IU has ever seen, the class of 2011 is also the largest. This year’s record number of freshmen only helped contribute to IU-Bloomington’s record enrollment, a total of 38,990 students, which is a 1.9 percent increase from last year. This is the second largest University enrollment on record.

A day to remember

It was a cool September day in 2001 when hijackers seized four planes and took thousands of lives. The weather Tuesday reminded one girl of the conditions that fateful day as she shared her Sept. 11 experience with a crowd in front of McNutt Quad. Between 150 and 200 students gathered at the residence hall for a candlelight vigil to remember the sixth anniversary of the tragedy.

IUSF creates scholarships to honor 9/11

The IU Student Foundation is accepting applications beginning Oct. 1 for three scholarships, created in 2002 to honor victims of the Sept. 11 attacks who had ties to IU.

IU uses YouTube to promote campus life

YouTube popularized animations, such as “Charlie the Unicorn,” and gave “Muffins” a whole new flavor. But the University Office of Creative Services thinks it can be used persuade high school students to attend IU.

Dennis Miller now to perform Feb. 2

Heads bow in memory of 9/11 victims, 6 years later

Relatives of Sept. 11 victims bowed their heads in silence Tuesday to mark the moments exactly six years earlier when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.

Driving down Fee Lane

If you haven’t visited the IU Office of the Bursar Web site at www.bursar.indiana.edu yet, you’re in for a real treat. This site allows you to access information about all the fees involved in attending IU. This eclectic bunch includes such old standards as admission application fees, activity fees, transportation fees and technology fees. Not to mention our old friends orientation, transcript retrieval and ID card replacement. And we can’t forget about drop/add access!

Should IU run background checks?
