Writers support deal to end 3-month strike

LOS ANGELES – Hollywood writers on Saturday gave resounding support to a tentative agreement with studios that could end a strike that has crippled the entertainment industry. However, it appeared the approval process might briefly delay their return to work.

Put simply, Sunday was not a good day for the IU women’s basketball team. Poor shooting combined with the inability to stop Illinois sophomore forward Jenna Smith spelled doom for the Hoosiers, as the Illini roundly defeated IU in Champaign, 73-62.

D.J. White firmly fixed his eyes on Ohio State freshman Kosta Koufos just seconds after Koufos fouled White when the senior forward threw down a two-handed slam. For a second, Buckeye guard Jon Diebler tried to step between the two to prevent anything from happening. Even one official pulled White, IU’s senior forward, aside to try to calm him down.
