Leary to face up to 3 years behind bars

Former Indiana guard Todd Leary averaged 5.4 points, 1.9 assists and 1.3 rebounds per contest and booked a career average of .460 shooting from beyond the arc while he donned the cream and crimson from 1989 to 1994. He can now add two more stats to his list of accomplishments: at least 18 months of jail and his 18th felony charge.

Award-winning writer and teacher Philip Gambone visited Boxcar Books on Friday night, an event sponsored by BloomingOUT on WFHB and IU GLBT Support Services. Gambone read the introduction of his most recent book, and participants of various sexual orientations joined in a question-and-answer session following the reading.

IUSA plans to set funding guidelines

IU students contribute more than $400,000 each year in mandatory fees to support student-led initiatives around campus. Given that amount of money, IUSA has decided to propose a new guideline for accountable funding and more transparency in the allocation process.

Service members embrace Afghan culture

For 10 days, Newman and other service members leaving for Afghanistan participated in a cultural awareness program offered at IU in partnership with Camp Atterbury, an Indiana training and mobilization center. Each day participants took Pashto or Dari language classes, depending on where they will be deployed, for six to seven hours and finished in an hour-long cultural briefing.

McRobbie earns Australian honor for contributions

Australian native and IU President Michael McRobbie was awarded an honorary doctor of letters degree during a ceremony Friday at the Australian National University.
