IU employee Mary Morgan was a guest at the event. Morgan said she has attended several gallery walks at Gallery North and enjoys the casual atmosphere. “I think it’s wonderful that there’s so many local artists,” Morgan said. “It speaks well for the community.”One of the artists, Cathy Korinek, has been a member of the Watercolor Society for the past three years. “The Bloomington Watercolor Society is a fabulous group because when I got here there was no group to watercolor with,” Korinek said. “They introduced a great place to go and just make art.”Korinek had several pieces on display. In addition to watercolor, she presented her graphite pencil drawings. Dutton was enthusiastic about explaining several pieces and how they were made, especially her work on Yupo synthetic paper. “I laid the paper down and started playing with the paints on it,” Dutton said. “It’s great how you can just create and change (your art) if you don’t like it.”Dutton has been a member of the Society for 2 1/2 years. She said the group is very open and no one ever hesitates to share their knowledge. “Our main purpose is to educate in watercolor,” Dutton said. “We have so many events all the time that is open to the public.”
