Over 40 people gathered for a “Rally Against Hamas Propaganda” on Thursday at Showalter Fountain. The event was organized in part by Günther Jikeli, associate director of the IU Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.

In the coming weeks, thousands will leave Bloomington as the spring semester ends. Those individuals are not just students, but participants in the city’s local economy, which has an active community of businesses centered near the IU campus.
IU’s commencement ceremonies will still go ahead as scheduled, according to an IU email sent to graduating seniors and their families Tuesday afternoon. The graduate commencement ceremony is on May 3 in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and the undergraduate ceremony is May 4 at Memorial Stadium. The email added there would be a “designated protest area” outside each ceremony.
