The Indiana University Police Department responded to McNutt Quad after a report of an armed robbery around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of E. 13th Street. IUPD issued three IU Notify Bloomington alerts with information about the situation from 3:19 a.m. to 4:25 a.m.

Natalie Fitzgibbons: Fall festivities like pumpkin patches and apple orchards can be better than summer activities of going to the beach or water park. There’s something more peaceful and nostalgic about it. I think it’s because you can always go to a warmer climate for beach and water parks, but it has to be fall for pumpkin patches and apple orchards.

In 2011, Frank Crawford, an unhoused Bloomington resident, died. He was disabled, struggled to walk and was too sick to be living outside, Forrest Gilmore, the executive director of antipoverty nonprofit Beacon, said. He rotated between nursing care and the streets, beginning the cycle each time he would become too sick for the streets and too healthy for the nursing home. He was released from nursing care for the last time two weeks prior to his death.

Monroe County Humane Association hosted its 28th Run for the Animals and Barktoberfest on Oct. 1 at Karst Farm Park. The 5K started at 9 a.m. with registration and ended at 1 p.m. Afterwards, there was an awards ceremony and two contests.

On Saturday, before the Waldron, Hill and Buskirk Park grass patches filled with picnic blankets and lawn chairs, volunteers for the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation’s 30th festival set up their tent stations. The event included artist lectures and demonstration workshops, live performances on Lotus’ main stage and visual arts activities in the artists camp from noon-5 p.m.

Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington, Artists for Climate Awareness, Bloomington Watercolor Society, Portrait Group, Upland Plein Air and Bloomington Parks and Recreation are all working together to co-host the second annual “Paint Bloomington!” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. I committed the worst “party foul” of the Bloomington hardcore scene: I arrived to the show 20 minutes late. I missed the opening band, Situational Hazard, at the Antumbra Room show last Friday night. I parked the car, mourned quickly and rushed inside to catch the rest of the show.
