IUDM has been nominated for "Most Influential College Student or College Organization" in the 3rd annual Classy Awards.

The neck, ribs, and outside of the violin are made with maple and the inner blocks and lining are made with spruce.

Andrew Henry measures the thickness of the maple form to make sure the thickness is uniform all the way though. The tool he is using is called a caliper and can measure the thickness, in millimeters, of the piece of the an instrument as far in as the center.

Brett Lewis, a masters student in performance at the Jacobs School of Music and in his second semester at the instrument workshop, blows some dust off the shape of the violin as he trims down by sanding it precisely. The shape is made out walnut and is used, with blocks carved out of spruce, to keep the shape of the violin while he forms the ribs of the violin around it.

Daughter of former president George W. Bush, Jenna Bush Hager, speaks Tuesday at IMU's Whittenberger Auditorium in a lecture presented by Union Board as a part of Women's History Month. Author of two New York Times Bestsellers, Hager is currently a reading resource teacher at a public school in Baltimore, Md. and is a NBC contributing correspondent to the Today Show on issues such as feature, education, and human interest stories.

William Campbell, the first speaker of the "Jesus and the End of..." series, talked about the relationship between religion and the LGBTQ community on Monday at Jordan Hall. In the lecture, Campbell drew upon his life experiences as a homosexual Christian and from working as a staff member of the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship program for college students in Chicago.
