Ed Carpenter of Dollar General/Sarah Fisher Racing speeds through turn one during his first qualification attempt of Pole Day on Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Carpenter qualified with a fast enough speed to compete with the "fast nine" for the pole position. His "fast nine" run started out very strong but he narrowly managed to avoid a crash during his second lap and lost his speed. His finished his "fast nine" qualification run with a four-lap cumulative speed of 225.121 MPH putting him in eighth position in the starting grid. Courtney Deckard
