Saturday afternoon, IU will take on Purdue in the annual battle for the Old Oaken Bucket in West Lafayette, Ind.
Friday, the IU athletic department released that the NCAA has ruled to uphold the length of freshmen forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea and center Peter Jurkin's nine-game suspensions. The NCAA ruled that the pair received impermissible benefits from an alumni, Mark Adams, who the NCAA considers an IU athletics booster after his ex-wife made donations totaling $185 over a six-year period starting in 1986. Fred Glass, IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics released the following statement: "Earlier today, we received notice that our appeal for a reduction in the withholding penalties for Hanner Perea and Peter Jurkin was denied.

After defeating Georgetown to win the Progressive Legends Classic, Indiana's senior guard Jordan Hulls was named MVP of the tournament. Throughout the tournament, Hulls impacted games with momentum changing three-pointers, defensive steals and a number of timely assists. Against Georgetown, Hulls posted 17 points (5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown), two assists and four steals in 39 minutes of play. IU's coaches admitted Monday afternoon that there is no more denying it - deficient tackling has become the biggest issue on IU's defense. After two straight wins over Illinois and Iowa, the Hoosiers' defense has given up two consecutive games of 500 yards and an average of 53.5 points scored. For IU co-defensive coordinator Mike Ekeler, the defense's regression as shown against Wisconsin and most recently Penn State has been most concerning heading into its final challenge of the season on Saturday at Purdue. "It sounds like a broken record but my god, we've been in position, we just have to tackle," Ekeler said.

Xavier Coach Andy Fleming called himself a "nobody." In his press conference following Indiana's 4-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium, Fleming said he sent a letter to IU Coach Jerry Yeagley 15 years ago, with aspiration of getting into coaching. "He let me come to his camp," Fleming said.

After new rumors surfaced last weekend of more conference realignment, the Big Ten Conference announced Monday afternoon that the University of Maryland has been admitted to the league. According to a press release sent out by the Big Ten, Maryland applied for admission into the conference Monday morning.
