"Everyone in the Big Ten is better this year and it's a very tough conference. We need to win more of the close matches this year."--IU Coach Lin Loring on the state of the Big Ten in 2012-13

"I finished my sophomore year in Texas and I decided that I needed a change. I really liked the coaches here so I decided to take a visit to see how Indiana University was and I really liked it."--Senior Jithmie Jayawickrema on transferring to Indiana

"I like how our practices are structured and our coaches do a really good job with our practice sessions. It's very professional and there's always something new to do."--Junior Gabrielle Rubenstein on practices after transferring to IU

"We've already made a lot more changes and worked on a lot more things this year than we did their freshman year. They've all worked really hard. They worked hard over the summer and have definitely all improved."--Loring on the improvement of the sophomore class

"Last year we were trying to perform well individually, I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves. This year we're more concerned about the team as a whole."--Sophomore Shannon Murdy on the transition from freshman to sophomore year

"I feel like we've all grown as team players because growing up tennis is an individual sport. Learning to cooperate with everyone in singles and doubles definitely helped us."--Sophomore Carolyn Chupa on the transition from freshman to sophomore year

"The experience that I gained from last season and knowing everyone on the team makes me feel a lot more comfortable."--Sophomore Alecia Kauss on the difference from freshman to sophomore year

"Overall, I thought we played really well. All of the teams were BCS schools so we had some really good wins over quality players. We still have a ways to go to get where we want to be but we're definitely further along than we were last year at this time."--Loring on the team's play in the Adidas Hoosier Classic in September 2012

"In thirty-nine years of coaching, I've never experienced a tournament with such poor organization as this. It wasn't the fault of any of the coaches or players at the Bulldog Classic but was the result of Utah not showing up."--Loring on the University of Georgia's Bulldog Classic tournament

"We are incredibly proud of our women's tennis program for all that they have accomplished on the court and in the classroom. The Herbert Cup was created to honor academic excellence, and no team has exemplified this more than our women's tennis program. We are proud that they have an exemplary championship tradition, but are even prouder of what they have achieved academically."--Indiana University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass on the team's academic success

"It's always a little bit weird but I want to represent IU well and win. It's competition and you can't take friendships into account in competition."--Rubenstein on defeating Butler, her former school

"We didn't know quite what to expect because we hadn't played a team at that level, especially on the road. I thought we responded well and we were close enough to win. That's why those losses are kind of painful because we were in the match."--Loring on losing 4-3 to Tennessee and Kentucky on the road

"They came back from down 6-3 in the deciding doubles match so I give Notre Dame credit, they found a way to pull that out. It's just disappointing. It's the third one in a row where we're literally four or five points from the match and couldn't close it out."--Loring after IU's three-match losing streak in February

"If you lose on a three-pointer on the buzzer, you don't have to re-invent your offense and defense. We haven't changed our doubles teams and we haven't done a lot different because we've just been a little bit unlucky with the way some of those 4-3 matches fell. Literally, we're probably 12 points away from being undefeated this season."--Loring after Indiana's three consecutive 4-3 losses

"We have been close to beating top 20 teams all year. We have kept telling the girls that we are good team and just keep believing. You could feel the momentum changing. This was a huge win for our program."--Loring after Indiana upset No. 2 Duke 4-2

"It couldn't have worked out better to play Michigan State outdoors. Not only because the court speed helped us get ready for Michigan but we also got in an outdoor match and at this time of the year, you're never sure if you're going to get in an outdoor match."--Loring on IU playing outdoors at Michigan State

"It's pretty exciting, especially after all of our 4-3 losses, to finally win and see all of our hard work pay off."--Sophomore Katie Klyczek after Indiana upset No. 10 Michigan 5-2

"I'm really proud of the way we competed. We just kept running down balls and making them hit one more. We haven't had two top wins in the same year in quite some time."--Loring on IU's upset of Michigan

"We just kept our confidence and believed in ourselves and fought as hard as we could and good things happened. It definitely helped with our confidence and made us realize that we really can do it once we work hard."--Klyczek on the team's confidence after IU defeated Michigan

"She's been our team captain this year and she's done a great job because we're still a really young team. She's just done a great job setting an example whether it's in the classroom or on the court. She's a great senior leader."--Loring on Hureau

"She's been our first one off the bench up until now. I think she's excited to be in the starting lineup and she just needs matches right now. She's only been in the lineup for three or four starting matches so she's still kind of getting her feet wet."--Loring on Jayawickrema

"It's been a little bit of a roller coaster ride. Ever since we changed the doubles around we've played really solid. I think we've been playing well and it's just a matter of if we get everybody in the lineup for the Big Tens, I'm confidant that we can play pretty well."--Loring on the regular season

"It was really good. We hadn't played on the courts since they had been resurfaced so I'm happy that we got to play outdoors and happy to get the win."--Loring on defeating Wisconsin in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament

"We put ourselves in the position to win. There were four three-set matches, the two that were two sets we were going to win one of them and they won one of them. It's about as close as it can get. I know the girls are really disappointed, especially to lose at home but I thought we represented ourselves really well."--Loring on IU's loss to Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals

"We know Vanderbilt was almost a No. 1 seed, so we drew one of the best No. 2 seeds in the field. That being said, we beat Duke earlier this season when they were No. 2 and later Michigan, who was ranked as high as No. 6. We are probably the three seed that no one wanted in their regional."--Loring on IU's NCAA Tournament draw

"I think overall the team is happy with the improvement we had this year since basically except for Gabby and Jithmie, it was all of the same girls (as last year). We'll always look back and feel like we left a few wins on the table. We lost more than our share of 4-3 matches this year. We're always going to look back and that's going to be a little disappointing but overall, the improvement that we made and the two top ten wins and the tournament will always make it a successful year for us."--Loring on the 2012-13 season
