The IU football program received word of its 16th commitment Thursday evening, as Hamilton (Ohio) High School linebacker Marcus Oliver pledged to the Hoosiers.

A 6-foot-1-inch, 225-pound senior, Oliver was named the 2012 Greater Miami Conference defensive player of the year after leading his high school with 135 tackles and four forced fumbles and recoveries.

This past season, Oliver also recorded 10 tackles for loss and two sacks, and was the second player in his high school's history to receive the GMC honor - the other was linebacker Denicos Allen, Michigan State's second-leading tackler in 2012.

Though Oliver does not have a star rating on Rivals.com, he is ranked as the 37th-best inside linebacker in the nation with a previous offer from Miami (Ohio).

The fourth Ohio pledge in the Hoosiers' class and the third linebacker, Oliver's commitment will put the team at No. 47 in Rivals' 2013 recruiting rankings.
