IU senior cross country runner Zach Mayhew was named an NCAA All-American after finishing 13th overall at Saturday's NCAA Championship meet in Louisville, Ky. The finish capped off a very successful senior season for Mayhew in which he finished first at the Big Ten Championship and was the top IU runner in every race he competed in.

Mayhew is IU's third All-American runner in as many years and finished in the best position of any IU athlete since Bob Kennedy won the national championship 20 years ago. He crossed the finish line with at time of 29:32 over the 10K course, a personal best.

Mayhew led the Indiana men's squad to an 18th place finish at nationals. The team was without senior Andy Bayer due to injury, a runner who was expected to finish well for the Hoosiers. Indiana had placed seventh in the past two national championships

Sophomore Kelsey Duerksen was the only Hoosier women's cross country runner in the event and finished the 6K race in 21:04, good enough for 145th place.
