Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sarah Stone earned recognition from the Big Ten Monday after IU's victory against Northwestern.

Stone received both the Co-Defensive and Co-Freshman Player of the Week, along with Iowa's Hannah Clark, the first Big Ten weekly soccer awards of her career, according to a press release.

Stone made her first career start this weekend, leading the Hoosiers to a 1-0 win, their first conference win of the season. She registered six saves throughout her 90 minutes of play.

This is the first time Indiana has been awarded a Defensive Player of the Week award since 2006, and the first time getting a Freshman Player of the Week award since now senior forward Orianica Velasquez won it in 2009.

IU will continue Big Ten play at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at Penn State.
