As reported on Easter, redshirt sophomore pitcher Aaron Slegers made five appearances in 2012. His final appearance came March 6 at Louisville. He pitched the final two innings, surrendering three earned runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out Cardinals' right fielder Matt Helms to record his sixth out.
IU Coach Tracy Smith talked on September 14 about the progress the Scottsdale, Ariz., native has made.
"It's still there," he said, referring to the fracture. "He still has a little bit of that. We've got to alter his conditioning, but he'll be ready for fall ball.
"I think he might be throwing today."
Kyle Schwarber
The Hoosiers' sophomore catcher reported on his Twitter account Tuesday night that "surgery went great today!" Smith said Schwarber underwent surgery on his left thumb, and he'll miss all fall.
