Former-IU men's soccer midfielder Alec Purdie was selected today by the New England Revolution with the third pick of the second round of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Purdie, a redshirt senior last season with the Hoosiers, finished his Indiana career with 12 goals and 10 assists, including eight goals and five assists during his senior season. The Elkhart, Ind. native finished third on the team and tied for fourth in the Big Ten in goals scored in 2011 and was a first-team All-Big Ten honoree.
Purdie will join former-Hoosier and current Revolution player Kevin Alston in New England as well. Fellow seniors Tommy Meyer and Chris Estridge will also begin their stints in the MLS next season after both players were drafted in last week's MLS Super Draft by the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps, respectively.
