Eight Hoosier recruits visited the campus this weekend, including cornerback and verbal commit Shaine Boyle. With Boyle were two other IU commits -- wide receiver Caleb Cornett and offensive lineman Dan Feeny -- and five more who have yet to commit anywhere.

Boyle, a junior college player who has spent the last two seasons at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Cal., committed to IU on Nov. 11. This was his first visit to Bloomington, and he described it as "intense."

Perhaps that was because the recruits had seats at the basketball game Saturday night, which was also a first for Boyle.

"I've never experienced that," Boyle said. "That was my first college basketball game...it was a great experience and I got to see how the fans support Indiana."

The three-star recruit (according to Rivals.com) received offers from schools like San Jose State, Hawaii and Western Michigan, but selected IU for a chance to both play in a new environment and to prove himself in the Big Ten.

"Junior college were some of the best years of my life, but there will always be a chip on my shoulder in that my first two years could have been at a university," Boyle said. "That's a chip on my shoulder, showing people that I can play in the Big Ten."

As for the change in climate for the Louisiana native who has spent the last two years in California?

"It's something I'll get used to," Boyle said with a laugh.
